Services
The Right Path serves children with conditions such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Spina Bifida, speech
impairments, Rhett Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, ADD/ADHD and a variety of brain impairments and other
developmental disabilities.  Since its inception, hundreds of children in Northeast and Central Oklahoma have been
served by the Right Path, and over 200 volunteers have generously given their time, talent and treasury to make this
organization successful.

The Right Path’s mission is to help special needs children achieve their highest potential - physically, emotionally and
cognitively - through the unique avenue of therapeutic horseback riding, cart driving and other equine-assisted
activities. We emphasize quality care, safety and family involvement.  “Horses that Heal and Hearts that Care” is our
motto. The children’s smiles and laughter show that their “Day at the Ranch” is the highlight of their week; the simple
miracles that occur with the students keep our volunteers loyally engaged and our staff dedicated and excited for each
class.

The Right Path is managed in an extremely conservative manner.  Over 90% of funds received go directly toward
helping the children. We continue to operate with a skeleton staff of two full- time employees (office manager and stable
manager). Rider’s lessons are conducted by our three NARHA certified instructors.  Presently, only one instructor is
compensated.  The executive director who is also an instructor has not taken a salary in 13 years of operation.  The
annual operating budget is $84,900 for 2009; with an additional $26,000 for projects that will enable program growth
and continued quality care for the children we serve.

The Right Path does not strive to be a large program, but rather a quality program.  Continuing education for our
instructors and volunteers is paramount. We are afforded the benefit of participating in and improving the quality of life
for these special children over years as many of them start at age three and continue into their teens.  Through our
program, riding horses has helped physically delayed children take their first steps and continue walking, autistic
children improve their social skills and reduce negative behaviors, all children bond with their horse and gain self
esteem.  These are only a few of the miracles we are privileged to see at The Right Path.

Due to each family’s extraordinary medical expenses to care for their child, Right Path looks primarily to outside gifts for
the funding of the program and for underwriting the direct cost per child.  Children ride once a week and pay only $6.00
per class.  No child is turned away; the Right Path provides therapeutic riding services regardless of their ability to pay.
These charges do not begin to cover the real expenses incurred that enable these special needs children the
opportunity for equine assisted therapy.  The average cost per child for one year is $2000.

There is no shortage of children in need of the Right Path program, but we are limited in the number we can accept
based on the financial support available to us.  We would be grateful for your partnership to help support as many of
these special children as you feel you can.
